SmallTalk bridges the gap between school and home. Daily reports, attendance, photos, and instant messaging — all in one place.
Designed for crèches, preschools, and primary schools to keep parents in the loop.
Track attendance in real-time. Parents get instant updates when their child is marked present.
Detailed daily summaries including meals, nap times, activities, and mood updates.
Communicate directly with teachers or join class group conversations.
Stay informed with school and class announcements delivered instantly.
Teachers share precious moments from the classroom throughout the day.
School-specific usernames and teacher approvals keep your school community private.
SmallTalk is your school’s private space for conversations, school news and a child’s learning journey. It connects families, teachers and school leadership without a public social-media feed.
Signing in opens an existing account. Joining with a code requests a new parent or student account in the correct class; it is not the same as signing in.
Share a moment is the staff publishing form within Stories. Assigned teachers and principals can publish class stories; only the principal can publish School Stories.
Growth Points is positive encouragement for kindness, effort and learning. The same feature uses age-appropriate names: Stars or Stickers for crèche, Badges for preschool, and Points for primary school. It is not a payment, prize currency or public ranking.
Teachers use awards to name a positive action. Certificates celebrate lifetime milestones; growth reports summarise the current period with a chart and a table.
The page titled Stories & Portfolios is the Child Portfolios area. Unlike the shared Stories feed, it keeps one child’s own learning work together: photos, audio recordings, videos and saved drawings.
Teacher approval controls when submitted work is shared with the family. A student account link connects a login to the correct child record; matching names alone is not safe enough.
White Board is a notice board for events, exams, rosters, outings, sports and announcements. It is not a drawing canvas or a chat conversation.
Status is a short-lived update: text alone, or one photo/video with an optional caption. It is visible to permitted school contacts for 24 hours, not permanently saved as a portfolio achievement or story feed item.
The teacher-only wand opens simple classroom activity tools. These help organise participation and transitions; they do not change a child’s login or attendance.
The Noise Meter is a visual classroom guide that responds to the sound level near your device. Its friendly indicator changes between Good, Getting loud and Too loud.
Media framing lets you enlarge and reposition a photo or video without stretching faces or changing its proportions. A saved profile crop is different from temporarily adjusting a viewer.
Profile contains your own photo and device notification preferences. The concierge bell is an in-app sound; background push notifications depend on browser and device permissions.
Tools collects the existing school-management functions. What you can open or change depends on your role; seeing this guide does not grant additional permissions.
Three simple steps to stay connected.
Ask your teacher for a parent (P-) or student (S-) join code.
Choose a username and password, then wait for teacher approval.
Receive daily updates, reports, and photos of your child's day.
Join your school community with a code from your teacher to make every school day more connected.
